To make sure their new range of unique shakers become a success, Meinl asked Bill Saragosa to help design them. As a result, the SH18 has been headed with a goatskin drumhead on one side while the other side is made of coated steel. This way, the different sides can be used to shape different sounds using different techniques - all while the rounded design offers maximum playing comfort.

The Meinl Headed Spark Shaker: Unique and Versatile

The steel and goatskin sides can even be played at the same time for a unique kind of 'crunchy' sound. If you're looking for more bright and high-pitched, simple rotate the shaker so that it's horizontal and play the steel side in a circular fashion. To get a warmer sound, simply play the side of the drumhead and press your finger down on the skin to play around with the pitch or combine the Meinl SH18 with the SH16 Spark Shaker for a wah-wah-style rattle.
